The ATA is committed to supporting research into better ways to diagnose and treat thyroid diseases. The generosity of members, patients, industry, and donors in the workplace has enabled the ATA to award thyroid research grants of over $ 600,000, since the inception of the Research Fund in 1966. The goals of the program have been to further thyroid research, but also to foster career development of thyroid investigators.
