Dr. Margita Zakarija, Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, and Departments of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Miami School of Medicine, passed away on December 28th, 2006 at her home in Key Biscayne, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer over the past two and a half years.
