Membership Categories

Applicants must meet the Membership Guidelines to qualify for membership..

Active Members

Only Active members are eligible to vote and hold office in the Association. Unless officially excused by the Board of Directors, any Active member who does not attend an annual meeting of the Association for three consecutive years shall upon a majority vote of the Board of Directors be dropped from membership.

Annual fees:  
Active Member (within the U.S./Canada)Includes print and online access to the THYROID Journal $550 ($525 if paid before 12/15)
Outside the U.S./Canada (add $45 for postage)

Corresponding Members

A Corresponding member is one who, in the opinion of the Membership Panel and the Board of Directors, is qualified for Active membership but cannot meet its obligations because of geographic location.

An Active member who because of a change in geographic location is no longer able to meet the obligations of Active membership can, upon application to and approval by the Board of Directors , be transferred to Corresponding membership. A Corresponding member who because of a change in geographic location becomes able to meet the obligations of Active membership shall, upon vote of the Board of Directors, become an Active member with all the privileges and obligations thereof.

Annual fees:  
Corresponding Member A:Includes online access to THYROID and print journal (special discounted subscription) $335
Corresponding Member B:Includes online access to the THYROID Journal $130

Senior Members

Senior membership shall be conferred upon an Active member upon application to and approval by the Board of Directors if the member has been an Active member for 20 or more years and has reached the age of 70 years and is retired from active full time professional activities or is unable to meet the obligations of Active membership.

Annual fees:  
Senior Member $130.00
To include printed Thyroid Journal add $160.00
Outside the US/Canada (add $45 for postage)

Associate Members

Applicants who are in postgraduate clinical or basic fellowship training are eligible for Associate membership for up to five years. Candidates should complete the online application form and submit a letter of recommendation from their program director. Associate members are not eligible to vote or hold office. Associate members may apply for Active or Corresponding membership during their last year of postgraduate training or at any time thereafter.

Annual fees:  
Associate (Fellows) Member: Complimentary with proof of Fellowship Program participation (online access to THYROID and to the ATA Fellows’ Corner)

Emeritus Members

Emeritus membership shall be conferred upon an Active or Senior member upon application to and approval by the Board of Directors if the member has been a member for 30 or more years and has reached the age of 75 years. A Corresponding member may be accorded the privilege of Emeritus membership through the same application process. Emeritus members are not required to attend meetings, may not vote, and may not hold office. Emeritus members are not obligated to pay a registration fee to attend meetings and are not obligated to pay dues.
