ATA Board of Directors Nominee Form
ATA is seeking candidates to join its Board of Directors. Newly-elected members will join the ATA leadership team after the ATA Annual Meeting on September 30 – October 3, 2021. The positions filled will be:
- 1 President-elect
- 1 Endocrine Surgeon
- 1 Endocrinologist
- 1 Scientist (PhD only)
- 1 At-large
- 2 Trainee Observers
Requirements
The basic requirements for Board service are:
President-elect
- Served previously as a member of the Board of Directors
- Minimum of five (5) years active ATA membership
- Attend a minimum of five (5) ATA Annual Meetings in the last 10 years
Director Candidates
- Minimum of five (5) years active ATA membership
- Attend a minimum of five (5) ATA Annual Meetings in the last ten (10) years
- Served as an ATA committee members for a three (3)-year term
Trainee Observers
The Nominating Committee will identify two trainees to be appointed to one-year roles as nonvoting observers on the Board of Directors. These roles will provide mentorship opportunities for trainees and bring important voices and perspectives to the Board of Directors.

Desired General Qualities
- Vision and strategic thinking to guide and implement the strategic plan.
- Leadership experience within your institution and in other professional and philanthropic organizations
- Contributes to diversity of perspectives on the board (e.g. geographic diversity, institution type, institution size, etc.).
- Enthusiasm and strong motivation to serve ATA
- Proven creative problem-solver
- Effective communication skills

Time Commitment
All Board members will be required to participate in monthly videoconferences and serve as a committee liaison as detailed in the ATA Policies and Procedures. Please review the Board job descriptions in the ATA Policies and Procedures here to ensure you are able to make the commitment to serve.
Nomination Process
Completed candidate nominations are due on April 30, 2021. This information includes a completed nominee form below and an up-to-date volunteer financial disclosure form.
The Nominations Committee will review all nominations received to determine the slate of candidates that will be presented to the membership.
