Thank you for your interest in the 2019 American Thyroid Association Board of Directors Nominations Process.

In accordance with the Bylaws of the American Thyroid Association (ATA), the ATA Nominating Committee is soliciting nominations from the membership for candidates for the offices of President and Directors (3) to serve on the ATA Board of Directors (BOD). Please review the selection process and eligibility requirements here. We encourage you to contact your nominees prior to submitting their name for consideration for nomination to the Board of Directors to gauge their interest and availability.

Nominations must be submitted to this electronic form below by March 31, 2019.
There is no limit on the number of nominations that may be submitted
Nominations stand through the cycle for which their specialty is being considered

Diversity Charge 
The ATA Board recognizes that successfully filling these leadership positions is critical to the vision and viability of the organization. In that regard, the ATA Board strongly endorses the concept that our organization should be led by a balanced and representative governing body that reflects the ATA’s membership in terms of gender, professional specialty, practice setting, and academic activities. Other opportunities for diversification are also recognized, including geography.

The Board has charged the ATA Nominating Committee to provide the membership with a slate of candidates to fulfill the Boards commitment to diversity and recommends nominating individuals from the following constituencies for the 2019 Ballot:

  • Laboratory Scientist
  • Oncologist
  • Pediatric Endocrinologist

Timeline
Nominations for Directors and President-elect close on March 31, 2019.  Candidates will be selected by the Nominating Committee and recommendations submitted to the ATA Board for final approval.

An election guide will be provided in July 2019 and the ballot will be sent to the membership electronically in August 2019.  Newly elected Board members will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting being held during the 89th Annual Meeting of the ATA from October 30-November 3, 2019 in Chicago, IL.

  • ATA President
    The President will serve a one-year term as President-Elect (2019-2020), followed by one year as President (2020-2021), and another year as a Past-President (2021-2022). Election of the President will be competitive.

    ATA Board Director
    The nominating committee will select six (6) nominees to run for the three open Director slots. Three (3) Directors will be elected to serve a four-year term (2019-2023).     • Presidential candidates must have served 3 years as Director on the ATA Board before running for President
    • Director candidates must serve on an ATA committee first, but does not have to be chair
    • All candidates should have a 5-years of minimum ATA membership and 5-years of ATA meeting attendance. This is not an either/or, must have 5 years minimum of both.
