American Thyroid Association Strategic Plan 2019-2022

Introduction

On June 1-2, 2019 the American Thyroid Association® (ATA) gathered 46 leaders (selected based on diversity of specialty, age, gender, geography, and ATA longevity) to engage in a two day-long strategy retreat to capture their vision for the organization, identify areas of focus, and set goals and metrics for the coming years. The Board engaged consultants from Vista Cova, LLC, Lowell Aplebaum, CAE and Rhea Steele, CAE, as strategy advisors and catalysts. The summary of our retreat sessions will provide resources to guide the work of the ATA.
The day prior to the retreat, the Board of Directors engaged in a self-assessment of their functioning as a governing body and review the Program Impact Matrix they had commissioned. The Board engaged in discussion about the various programs of the organization as well as key opportunities to keep in mind through the remainder of the retreat. The Program Matrix has been refined and clarified (July/August 2019) for accuracy and transparency to more accurately survey and reflect the program priorities.
