The American Thyroid Association® (ATA)® is committed to protecting your online privacy and security of personal information. We feel it is important for you to know how we handle information we receive from you via the internet. In general, you can visit www.thyroid.org without revealing any personal information. However, you are required to provide personal information to gain access to some of our content and services, as explained below.
When you request information, order a product or service, register using one of our forms, donate, or contact us offline, we may need your specific information in order to process your registration/request and reply promptly.
We may ask you for contact information (such as your name, email and address) and demographic information (such as your zip code or age). We also collect demographic and profile data at our site and in our databases. We ask for health-related data to help us help you through our information, our programs and our services. We use data you provide to develop and distribute content that we think you might be interested in.
In general, we use identifiable information to complete a transaction, as indicated below. Part of our mission is to improve the lives of all people affected by thyroid disease, and we do that by providing appropriate health information. We do not provide your name and address or email to outside parties, except as described here. We monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the American Thyroid Association® Web site. We may also use the information we collect to occasionally notify you about important changes to the Web sites, new services or features offered by the American Thyroid Association® , and special offers and information we think you will find valuable. Donor Commitment for Privacy by the American Thyroid Association® (ATA)®
The American Thyroid Association (ATA) will not sell, share or trade ATA® donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to ATA® donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by the American Thyroid Association, both online and offline, on any Platform (“Platform”, includes the American Thyroid Association® website and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.
We may share information that we collect online with companies within the American Thyroid Association® family, and with trusted third parties. Third party service providers with whom we share identifiable information are contractually obligated to keep the information confidential and to use the information only to provide the services we have asked them to perform.
Protecting Personal Information

Click on the unsubscribe link provided at the bottom of every email message.
Alternatively you can send us an email at email@example.com with the word “unlist” or “unsubscribe” in the Subject line.
If your name was previously selected for any of our upcoming emails, it is possible for you to receive information from the American Thyroid Association® up to 10 business days after your request has been submitted.
Members of the American Thyroid Association® who are registered to our site
The personal information you provide in your membership application will be used to create a personal profile, which allows us to give you customized information. This includes your member home page, personal email newsletters, and some interactive tools which require you to log on. If you choose to be included in the directory of ATA® members your personal information such as your business address, phone number, fax number, and email address will be made available to other ATA members
If you choose to be listed in the Find a Thyroid Specialist feature of our website your Name, Business Address, and Business phone number will be available to the public.
The email addresses that may be collected during this process are collected and used by this site only for distribution of email newsletters and password identification and recovery during registration/login.
